US FlagUS/Washington: ConSup North America Inc., a Lincoln Park, New Jersey establishment, recalls an estimated 85,984 pounds of ready-to-eat (“RTE”) Sliced Stockmeyer Prosciutto Italian Dry-Cured Ham produced in Germany from the American marketplace that were reportedly produced without the benefit of equivalent inspection with consequential risks of undeclared allergens, bacterial and/or viral infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Prosciutto Italian Dry-cured Ham products were thought to have been produced in Germany on various dates ranging from September 25, 2023 through March 6, 2024 and are subject to this recall, as follows:

  • Stockmeyer Prosciutto, product of Germany, sold in 5.29-ounce plastic packages with a batch/lot code of 09118-3A, 09118-3B, 09120-3A, 09120-3B, 13133-3A, 13133-3B, 13104-3A, 13104-3B, 13105-3A, 13105-3B, 13109-3A or 13109-3B and a best-before date of 4/28/2024, 5/26/2024, 7/7/2024, 8/4/2024, 8/11/2024 or 10/7/2024

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Sliced Stockmeyer Prosciutto Italian Dry-cured Ham produced in Germany were known to have been marketed, sold and distributed in the US states of California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Pork products identified above.

This recall was initiated after Germany’s Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety notified FSIS that H. Klümper GmbH & Co. KG, a German establishment, produced a portion of the identified batch/lots without the benefit of equivalent inspection and exported them to the United States for distribution.

The USDA’s FSIS is concerned that some product may be in your freezers. People who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them and restaurants are urged not to serve these Pork products. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Sliced Stockmeyer Prosciutto Italian Dry-cured Ham products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
