Canada/Ottawa: Maple Leaf Foods LogoMaple Leaf Foods Inc. recalls certain batch/lots of Maple Leaf brand Chicken Breast Nuggets due to suspected risk of plastic and metal fragment contamination, possibly from a writing pen and consequential risk of choking, ingestion and internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, a serious health and safety hazard. Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Chicken Nuggets are subject to this recall:

  • Maple Leaf brand Chicken Breast Nuggets, sold in 840 gram packages with a best-before date code of 2018 MR 06, a retail package code of 7065, a shipping carton code of 2017-03-06 and a UPC of 0 63100 02776 6

According to the CFIA, Maple Leaf Foods has recalled certain batch/lots of Maple Leaf brand Chicken Breast Nuggets due to suspected risk of plastic and metal fragment contamination. You should not consume the Chicken Nuggets identified above.

In general, if plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Maple Leaf brand Chicken Nuggets, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
