UK FlagUK/London: ASDA Stores Ltd., a Huddersfield, West Yorkshire establishment and a subsidiary of Walmart Inc. of Bentonville, Arkansas, recalls certain batch/lots of ASDA branded Little Kids Pasta Bolognese and ASDA branded Little Kids Spaghetti Bolognese from the British marketplace due to suspected rubber fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction, all serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Pasta products are subject to recall:

  • ASDA Little Kids branded Pasta Bolognese, sold in 150 gram plastic trays with a use-by date of 04 March 2021 or 05 March 2021
  • ASDA Little Kids branded Spaghetti Bolognese, sold in 300 gram plastic trays with a use-by date of 05 March 2021

==> No barcodes, EANs, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Pasta products can be found on the Web site above.

According to the FSA, ASDA has recalled certain batch/lots of ASDA Little Kids branded Pasta Bolognese and ASDA Little Kids branded Spaghetti Bolognese from the British marketplace due to suspected rubber fragment contamination. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Pasta products identified above.

In general, if bone, glass, metal, plastic and/or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled ASDA Little Kids branded Pasta Bolognese and ASDA Little Kids branded Spaghetti Bolognese, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Pasta to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

Please note: while these Pasta products may be close to or past their use-by dates, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased these products any time from 1 January 2021 to 15 March, 2021, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration.
