Alkanater branded Tahina Recall [Canada]

Canada/Ottawa: Phoenicia Group Inc., a St-Laurent, Quebec establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Alkanater branded Tahina products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected of Salmonella contamination and consequential risk of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Tahina products are subject to this recall:

• Alkanater branded Tahina, sold in 454 gram white canisters with a production date of 08/20/2018, an expiry date of 08/20/2020, a batch/lot designation of TT4N-180820 and a UPC of 6 92551 00002 0. The recalled Tahina products were known to have been sold in Ontario and Quebec but may also have been distributed in other Canadian provinces and/or territories.

According to the CFIA, Phoenicia Group has recalled certain batch/lots of Alkanater branded Tahina products from the Canadian marketplace due to possible Salmonella contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Tahina products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Alkanater branded Tahina products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Salmonellosis.
