Vehicle Recall: Kia Telluride SUVs

Canada/Ottawa: Transport Canada, an Ottawa, Ontario regulatory and safety authority, recalls an estimated 18,567 model year 2020 to 2024 Kia Telluride Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) marketed, sold and delivered in Canada.

On certain Kia SUVs, the Axle Shaft(s) may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the Axle Shaft Splines could become damaged. If this defect occurs, the vehicle could move when it’s parked when the Parking Brake isn’t applied.

Transport Canada reports that a parked vehicle that moves suddenly could create the risk of a rollaway, crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

==> No VINs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Proposed Remedy:
Kia Canada will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a Authorized Dealership to update the Electronic Parking Brake Software. To reduce the safety risk, Kia recommends that you should always use the Parking Brake when you park
