US FlagUS/Washington: Pride of Florida, a Raiford, Florida establishment, recalls an estimated 64,797 pounds of Raw Beef due to suspected Escherichia coli (“E.coli”) O157:H7 contamination and consequential risk of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Raw Beef products were manufacturerd on various dates from September 23, 2019 to October 10, 2019 and are subject to this recall:

  • Circle A branded 85-15 Lean Ground Beef, sold in 24-pound cases containing one (1)-pound chubs with a pack date of October 8, 2019 a package code of October 8, 2020 and a case UPC of 1-86407-30002-5
  • Circle A branded 80/20 Ground Beef, sold in 24-pound cases containing one (1)-pound chubs with pack date codes of 9-26-19, 9-27-19 and 9-30-19, 2019 package codes of September 26, 2020, September 27, 2020 and September 30, 2020, and a case code of FG-8020-24-1
  • Circle A branded 80/20 Ground Beef, sold in 12-pound cases containing one (1)-pound chubs with a pack date code of 9-26-19, package codes of September 26, 2020 and a case code of FG-8020-12-1
  • Clarks 5 branded Chopped Beef Steaks, sold in 15-pound cases containing 20-ounce packages with a pack date code of 9-23-19, package codes of September 23, 2020 and a case code of 0-73673-00211-4
  • Clarks 5 branded Chopped Beef Steaks, sold in 13-pound cases containing 17.5-ounce packages with a pack date code of 9-23-19, package codes of September 23, 2020 and a case code of 0-73673-00222-0
  • Southeast Protein Purveyor branded Ground Beef Patties, sold in 20-pound cases containing 5.3-ounce packages with a pack date code of 10-18-19, package codes of October 10, 2020 and a case code of FG-8020-20-5.3
  • Southeast Protein Purveyor branded 81/19 Ground Beef, sold in 40-pound cases containing 10-ounce packages with pack date code of 9-30-19, 10-2-19 and 10-8-19, package codes of September 30, 2020, October 2, 2020, and October 8, 2020 and case codes of FG-81/19-10C-40# and FG-81/19-10C-40
  • Southeast Protein Purveyors branded 80-20 Ground Beef, sold in 60-pound cases containing 10-pound packages with a pack date code of 9-26-19, a package code of September 26, 2020 and a case code of FG80/20-60-6/10

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 18506” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to commercial distributors and a cold storage warehouse in Florida.

The problem was discovered when Pride of Florida was notified by their third-party laboratory that a sample was positive for E. coli O157:H7, but the products associated with the sample had already been shipped into commerce. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Raw Beef products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Raw Beef products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Escherichia coli (“E.coli”) O157:H7 poisoning.

The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) is concerned that some of the Raw Beef may be frozen and in Commercial Distributor’s freezers. Distributors who have obtained these products are urged not to distribute them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of origin.
