Logo - Ford Motor Company ("Ford")Ford Motor Company (“Ford”), a Dearborn, Michigan establishment, has recalled an estimated 42,652 model year 2022-2023 Ford Bronco Sport and 2022 Ford Escape Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) equipped with 1.5L Engines marketed, sold and delivered in the United States

Recall Category: Fuel System, Gasoline – Cracked Fuel Injector may leak and cause a fire

NHTSA Safety Notification 24V187000 reports a Fuel Injector may crack and leak fuel inside the Engine Compartment

Logo - Ford EscapeAccording to the NHTSA, a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot Engine or exhaust components, can increase the risk of a fire, explosion, burns and/or smoke inhalation with consequential life-changing or life-ending results.

Authorized Ford Dealers will update the Engine Control Software to include fuel injector leak detection and install a Drain Tube, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in April 2024.

Owners may contact Ford Customer Service toll-free at 1-866-436-7332 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Ford’s designation for this recall is 24S16.
