Wayne Waterbug Glow Multi-Use Submersible Water Removal Pump Recall [US]

US FlagUS/Washington: Wayne/Scott Fetzer Company doing business as Scott Fetzer Consumer Brands, a Harrison, Ohio establishment, recalls an estimated 42,000 Wayne WaterBug Glow Multi-Use Submersible Water Removal Pumps from the American marketplace and sold exclusively at Home Depot due to suspected water incursion and consequential risks of fire, burns, electric shock, smoke inhalation and/or respiratory failure, cardiac system collapse and/or property damage.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves all current Wayne Waterbug Glow Multi-Use Submersible Water Removal Pumps with a SKU number of 57732-WYN1.

  • Wayne WaterBug Glow Multi-Use Submersible Water Removal Pumps, marketed, sold and delivered as residential submersible water removal pumps with an automatic shut-off feature. The recalled Pumps are predominantly yellow and have a black strap for carrying and placing the Pump where needed. When the Pump is operational, the unit’s Plug glows green. When unit shuts off, the Plug glows red. At press time, this recall is thought to only affect the company’s WaterBug Glow Pumps.

The recalled Submersible Water Removal Pumps are known to have been sold at Home Depot Stores US nationwide and online through its Web site at http://www.homedepot.com as well as The Home Depot Pro site at http://www.wilmar.com from July 2019 through March 2021.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, if water gets into the electrical circuit board of the recalled Submersible Water Pumps, it can short circuit, posing fire, burn and electrical shock hazards to people who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use. The firm has received twenty-eight (28) reports of the circuit board malfunctioning, including two (2) reports of minor burn injuries.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Submersible Water Removal Pumps, please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact Scott Fetzer Consumer Brands for a free replacement WaterBUG Auto Pump or standard WaterBug Pump.
