Among the sixty-two (62) recalls the NHTSA announced in April comes news of the following notification:
Chrysler (FCA US LLC), an Auburn Hills, Michigan establishment and a subsidiary of Stellantis NV of Amsterdam, has recalled an estimated 12,221 model year 2022 Jeep Cherokee Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.
Recall Category: Exterior Lighting, Steering – Turn Signal Malfunction in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 108
NHTSA Safety Notification 24V239000 reports the Turn Signal Self-canceling Feature may not function properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment”.
According to the NHTSA, Turn Signals that do not function properly may fail to indicate the driver’s intention to change vehicle direction, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.
