Sanwu branded Spicy Hot Bean Curd Recall [Canada]

Canada/Ottawa: Clover Trading Company Ltd, a Vancouver, British Columbia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Sanwu branded Spicy Hot Bean Curd products due to undeclared Sesame and Wheat, both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Bean Curd products are subject to this recall:

  • Sanwu branded Spicy Hot Bean Curd, sold in 150 gram pouches; affected batch/lots: all codes where Sesame and Wheat are not declared on the food product label with a UPC of 6 905475 352002

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the CFIA, Clover Trading Co. has recalled certain batch/lots of Sanwu branded Spicy Hot Bean Curd products from the Canadian marketplace because they contain Sesame and Wheat, ingredients not declared on the product label. People with an allergy to Sesame or Wheat or who have Celiac Disease or other Gluten-related health disorders should not consume the recalled products identified above.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Spicy Hot Bean Curd products and could be allergic to their Sesame Allergy and/or Wheat ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
