UK FlagUK/London: Waitrose & Partners, a London, England establishment and a subsidiary of the John Lewis Partnership of Bracknell, Berkshire recalls certain batch/lots of Essential Waitrose & Partners Salted Dairy Butter from the British marketplace due to suspected clothing fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and sepsis, all serious health and safety hazards.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Dairy products are subject to recall:

  • Essential Waitrose & Partners Salted Dairy Butter, sold in 500 gram packages with a best-before date of 19 June 2024

==> No barcodes, EANs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Logo - UK Food Standards Agency ("FSA")According to the FSA, Waitrose & Partners has recalled certain batch/lots of Essential Waitrose & Partners Salted Dairy Butter products from the British marketplace due to suspected clothing fragment contamination. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Dairy products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after some packages of Essential Waitrose & Partners Salted Dairy Butter were found to possibly contain pieces of blue cloth. The possible presence of cloth makes the product unsafe to eat.

In general, if bone, glass, metal, plastic, cloth and/or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Essential Waitrose & Partners Salted Dairy Butter products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Dairy products to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and sepsis.
