Vehicle Recall: Hyundai Genesis GV70, GV80, G80, G90 SUVs

US/Washington: As of Wednesday, April 24, 2024, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”), a division of the US Department of Transportation, has posted a total of fifty-four (54) vehicle, tire, accessory or other automotive-related product recalls this month. Among the fifty-four (54) recalls the NHTSA announced in April comes news of the following notification:

Hyundai Motor America (“Hyundai”), a Fountain Valley, California establishment and a subsidiary of Hyundai Motors of Seoul, South Korea, has recalled an estimated 31,440 model year 2022-2023 Hyundai Genesis GV70, GV80, G80, and G90 Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Fuel System, Gasoline – Loss of drive power from Fuel Pump failure

NHTSA Safety Notification 24V282000 reports the Fuel Pump may fail, which can result in a loss of drive power.

According to the NHTSA, a loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Hyundai Dealers will inspect and replace the Fuel Pump Assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 18, 2024.

Owners may contact Hyundai Customer Service toll-free at 1-855-371-9460 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Pacific Standard Time (“PST”) for more information. Hyundai’s designation for this recall is 022G.
