UK FlagUK/London: Waitrose & Partners, a London, England establishment and a subsidiary of the John Lewis Partnership of Bracknell, Berkshire recalls certain batch/lots of Waitrose Pitted Spanish Queen Olives due to suspected glass contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and sepsis, all serious and potential fatal hazards, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Olives are subject to recall:

  • Waitrose Pitted Spanish Queen Olives, Drained, sold in 113 gram glass bottles with a best-before end date of DEC 2025

==> No barcodes, EANs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Logo - UK Food Standards Agency ("FSA")According to the FSA, Waitrose & Partners has recalled certain batch/lots of Waitrose Pitted Spanish Queen Olives due to suspected glass contamination. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Olives identified above.

In general, if bone, glass, metal, plastic and/or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Waitrose Pitted Spanish Queen Olives, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Olives to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and sepsis.
