Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Organic Poppy Seeds are subject to this recall:

  • Organic Poppy Seeds, sold in various sized containers; affected batch/lots: all packages sold up to and including April 16, 2022 from Bulk Basket, 401 – 20th St. W., Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Poppy Seeds were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Bulk Basket has recalled certain batch/lots of Organic Poppy Seeds from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Poppy Seeds identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Poppy Seeds, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Salmonellosis.
