Washington, DC: As of Friday, May 6, 2022, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”), a division of the US Department of Transportation, posted a total of ninety-six (96) vehicle, tire, accessory or other automotive-related product recalls this past month.

Among the ninety-six (96) recalls the NHTSA announced in April came news of the following:
Ford Motor Company (“Ford”), a Dearborn, Michigan establishment, has recalled an estimated 19,175 model year 2022 Ford F-150 Pickup Trucks marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.
Recall Category: Steering – Steering Column Wiring too short
NHTSA Safety Notification 22V253000 reports the Power-Adjustable Telescoping Steering Column Connector Wiring may be too short. Wiring that is too short can become damaged or separate if the Adjustable Steering Column is extended all the way.
According to the NHTSA, damaged or separated Wiring may result in the Steering Column not moving as intended in certain crash conditions, increasing the risk of injury in a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Ford Dealers will inspect the Steering Column Wiring Harness and repair the Wiring, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 9, 2022. Owners may contact Ford Customer Service toll-free at 1-866-436-7332 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Ford’s designation for this recall is 22S24.
