Among the ninety-three (93) recalls the NHTSA announced in March came news of the following notification:

Logo - Nissan North America, Inc. ("Nissan")Nissan North America, Inc. (“Nissan”), a Franklin, Tennessee establishment and a wholly owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor Company of Yokohama, Japan has recalled an estimated 12,019 model year 2024 Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Seat Belts – Unsecured Lap Belt Pretensioners in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 208-210

NHTSA Safety Notification 24V176000 reports the Lap Belt Pretensioner in the Left-side Front Seat Belt Assembly may be improperly secured, due to a missing Rivet. As such, these Nissan vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 208 “Occupant Crash Protection,” 209 “Seat Belt Assemblies” and 210 “Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages”.

Logo - Nissan PathfinderAccording to the NHTSA, an unsecured Lap Belt Pretensioner will not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Authorized Nissan Dealers will inspect and replace the left-side Front Lap Seat Belt Pretensioner Assemblies as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 18, 2024.
