Food Recall: Metro Adonis Classic Hummus Spreads

Canada/Ottawa: Groupe Manufacturier Metro Inc., a Montreal, Quebec establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Adonis branded Classic Hummus from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Yeast contamination and consequential risks of serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Chick Pea spreads are subject to this recall:

• Adonis branded Classic Hummus, sold in 250 gram clear plastic tubs with a best-before date code of BB 2024/MR/24, BB 2024/MR/29 or BB 2024/MR/31 and a UPC of 6 28069 90013 2

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Chick Pea spreads were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Groupe Manufacturier Metro has recalled certain batch/lots of Adonis branded Classic Hummus from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Yeast contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Chick Pea spreads identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Adonis branded Classic Hummus, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Yeast contamination.
