Food Recall: Kool Kitchen Veggie Burgers

Canada/Ottawa: Access Foods, a Pickering, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Kool Kitchen branded Veggie Burgers from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Gluten, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious health and safety hazard requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Veggie Burgers are subject to this Quick Look recall:

• Kool Kitchen branded Veggie Burgers, sold in 476 gram packages; affected batch/lots: all codes where Gluten is not declared on the label with a UPC of 651539200944

These Veggie Burgers were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian provinces of Nova Scotia and Ontario, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country including over the Web. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Kool Kitchen branded Veggie Burgers and could be allergic to their Gluten ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis
