US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Irvington Seafood, an Irvington, Alabama establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Processed Crabmeat products from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Processed Crabmeat products are subject to this recall:

  • Irvington Seafood Crabmeat: Jumbo, Lump, Finger and Claw Meat, sold in one (1)-pound tubs with a production license number AL 111-C

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Irvington Seafood Crabmeat products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of Alabama and Mississippi, although it is always possible these seafood products had wider distribution within the country including over the Web. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Logo - US Food and Drug Administration ("FDA")According to the FDA, Irvington Seafood has recalled certain batch/lots of Processed Crabmeat products from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Seafood products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after some samples tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Irvington Seafood Crabmeat products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Seafood to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.
