Product Recall: Walmart Mainstays Electric Mini Choppers

US/Washington: Walmart Stores Inc., a Bentonville, Arkansas establishment, recalls an estimated 51,750 Mainstays Electric Mini Choppers from the American marketplace due to suspected failure of the product’s safety interlock with consequential risks of laceration, amputation, bone fractures and/or eye injury, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain Mainstays Electric Mini Choppers, sold with a model number of MS14100094536S1, as follows:

• Mainstays Electric Mini Choppers reports this recall involves certain Mainstays Electric Mini Choppers, sold with a model number of MS14100094536S1 consisting of rechargeable, cordless, counter-top appliances that have a green lid, white body, and clear plastic bowl. They have one (1) blade attachment, consisting of three (3) curved blades on one (1) white plastic spindle. Model number MS14100094536S1 is on the label attached to the bottom of the clear plastic bowl.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the Chopper’s Blade can operate unexpectedly during assembly or when not enclosed in the container, posing a laceration hazard to owners and those nearby who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use

In this case, this recall was initiated after Walmart received five (5) reports of lacerations, two (2) of which required medical attention, including stitches. Injuries occurred during assembly of the product or during cleaning/handling of the product.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Mainstays Electric Mini Choppers, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat laceration, amputation, bone fractures and/or eye injury.
