US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Sprouts Farmers Market, a Dunwoody. Georgia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Chicken Street Taco Kits from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Taco Kits are subject to this recall:

  • Sprouts Farmers Market Taco Kits, sold in 1.5-pound black plastic trays with a best-before date ranging from 11/29/2023 (i.e., November 29, 2023) to 3/4/2024 with a UPC of 205916414990

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled prepared Taco Kits can be found on the Web site above.

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Sprouts Farmers Market Taco Kits were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Logo - US Food and Drug Administration ("FDA")According to the FDA, Sprouts Farmers Market has recalled certain batch/lots of Chicken Street Taco Kits from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled prepared Taco Kits identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after Rizo-López Cheeses Foods, Inc. recalled certain batch/lots of Cotija Cheese due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Sprouts Farmers Market used the recalled Cotija Cheese as an ingredient for its Chicken Street Taco Kits sold in its stores.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Chicken Street Taco Kits sold at Sprouts Farmers Market, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the prepared Taco Kits to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.
