US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Doctors Scientific Organica, a Riviera Beach, Florida establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Burn Boot Camp Afterburn Grass-Fed Whey Protein Bars from the American marketplace due to reported cloth, paper and plastic fragment contamination with consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and sepsis, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Energy Bars are subject to this recall:

  • Doctors Scientific Organica Burn Boot Camp Afterburn Grass-Fed Whey Protein Bars – Triple Chocolate Almond flavor, sold in 60 gram blue plastic wrapped bars with a batch/lot of 181, 184 or 187

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Doctors Scientific Organica Burn Boot Camp Afterburn Grass-Fed Whey Protein Bars were known to be marketed, distributed and sold from Burn Bootcamp retail locations in all US states, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Energy Bars identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after foreign material, including disposable hairnet, shrink wrap and parchment paper, may have entered the manufacturing process and may be found in the final Burn Boot Camp Afterburn Grass-Fed Whey Protein Bar products.

In general, if bone, glass, paper, cloth, metal, plastic and/or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Doctors Scientific Organica Burn Boot Camp Afterburn Grass-Fed Whey Protein Bars, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Energy Bars to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and/or sepsis.
