US FlagUS/Silver Spring: The HMC Group Marketing, Inc., doing business as HMC Farms, a Kingsburg, California establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of HMC branded Fresh Peaches, Plums and Nectarines from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Fresh Fruit products are subject to this recall:

  • HMC branded Fresh Peaches, Plums and Nectarines, sold in retail stores between May 1 and November 15, 2022 and between May 1 and November 15, 2023 with a PLU of 3035, 4036, 4038, 4040, 4042, 4044, 4101 or 4378

==> No barcodes, UPCs, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These HMC branded Fresh Peaches, Plums and Nectarines may have been known to be marketed, distributed and sold in all US states, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Fresh Fruit products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after the recalled Peaches have been linked to an outbreak of Listeriosis that has resulted in eleven (11) known illnesses.

Please note: while these Fresh Fruit products may be close to or past their use-by dates, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased these products during the time periods identified above, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled HMC branded Fresh Peaches, Plums and Nectarines, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Fresh Fruit products to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.
