US FlagUS/Washington: The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”), a statutory regulatory and food safety authority, updates the existing recall for certain ready-to-eat (“RTE”) Chicken Products made with Chicken produced by Tyson Foods to include additional recalled ready-to-eat products that also used Tyson Foods as a primary ingredient supplier.

The previous recall notification was initiated by Tyson Foods Inc., a Dexter, Montana establishment, for numerous batch/lots of Casey’s General Store, Jet’s Pizza, Little Caesars, Marco’s Pizza and Tyson branded Chicken products. The original recall identified an estimated 8,492,832 pounds of frozen ready-to-eat (“RTE”) Chicken that were recalled due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination. A subsequent recall increased this amount to approximately 8,955,296 pounds.

This recall adds additional products to this list.

The additional 462,564 pounds of recalled Chicken were distributed to schools and resulted from a commercial sale and was not part of food provided by the USDA for the National School Lunch Program.
