US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Kraft Heinz Foods Company, a Chicago, Illinois establishment, recalls at least 83,800 cases of Kraft Singles American Pasteurized Prepared Cheese product from the American marketplace due to suspected plastic fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and sepsis, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Dairy products are subject to this recall:

  • Kraft Singles American Pasteurized Prepared Cheese product, sold in individually wrapped slices with a best-when-used-by date code ranging from 10 JAN 24 through 27 JAN 24, contain an “S” and “72” in the manufacturing code and a UPC of 0 2100061526 1
  • Also included in the recall are three (3)-pound multipacks of Kraft Singles American Pasteurized Prepared Cheese product with a carton UPC of 0 2100060491 3 and a best-when-used-by date code ranging from 09 JAN 2024 through 13 JAN 2024 or 16 JAN 2024.

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Kraft Singles American Pasteurized Prepared Cheese product may have been marketed, distributed and sold in all US states, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Logo - US Food and Drug Administration ("FDA")According to the FDA, Kraft Heinz Foods Company has recalled at least 83,800 cases of Kraft Singles American Pasteurized Prepared Cheese product from the American marketplace due to suspected plastic fragment contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Dairy products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after after Kraft Heinz received several consumer complaints about finding the plastic stuck to a Cheese slice, including six (6) complaints of consumers saying they choked or gagged on the plastic. At press time, no cases of Asphyxia had been reported.

In general, if bone, glass, metal, plastic and/or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Kraft Singles American Pasteurized Prepared Cheese products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Dairy products to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and sepsis.
