Food Recall: Day-Lee Foods Frozen Pre-Fried Tempura Shrimp

Canada/Ottawa: Day-Lee Foods, Inc., a Vancouver, British Columbia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Unbranded Frozen Pre-Fried Tempura Shrimp from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Egg, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious health and safety hazard requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Seafood products are subject to this recall:

• Day-Lee Foods Frozen Pre-Fried Tempura Shrimp, sold in 3 kilogram bulk containers with a best-before date code of 24 JUN 08, a product code of 1200058D and a UPC of 10629317000410

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Tempura Shrimp products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian province of British Columbia although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Day-Lee Foods has recalled certain batch/lots of Unbranded Frozen Pre-Fried Tempura Shrimp from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Egg. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Seafood products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Unbranded Frozen Pre-Fried Tempura Shrimp and could be allergic to their Egg ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
