US FlagUS/Silver Spring: United Supermarkets, a Lubbock, Texas establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Chocolate Caramel Corn and Candy Trays sold at Albertsons Market, Amigos, Market Street and United Food Stores from the American marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Confectionery products are subject to this recall:

  • Chocolate Caramel Corn, sold in 1/5-ounce packages with a sell-thru date ranging from August 26, 2024 up to and including September 12, 2024 at Albertsons, Market, Amigos, Market Street and United in the US states of New Mexico and Texas with a UPC of 20942400000
  • Candy Trays, sold in 1/25-ounce packages with a sell-thru date ranging from August 26, 2024 up to and including September 12, 2024 at Albertsons, Market, Amigos, Market Street and United in the US states of New Mexico and Texas with a UPC of 20647600000

Logo - United Supermarkets==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Albertsons Market, Amigos, Market Street and United Food Store White Coated Confectionery products were known to be marketed, distributed in the US states of New Mexico and Texas, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Logo - US Food and Drug Administration ("FDA")According to the FDA, United Supermarkets has recalled certain batch/lots of Chocolate Caramel Corn and Candy Trays sold at Albertsons Market, Amigos, Market Street and United Food Stores from the American marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination.

This recall was initiated after it was reported that Palmer Candy, a primary ingredient supplier of these products, was notified by its liquid coating supplier that there was a potential for contamination with Salmonella from an ingredient.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled United Supermarkets Chocolate Caramel Corn and Candy Trays sold at Albertsons Market, Amigos, Market Street and United Food Stores, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Snack Foods to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Salmonellosis.
