US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Trader Joe’s, a Monrovia, California establishment, recalls all current batch/lots of Trader Joe’s branded Chicken Enchiladas Verde, Trader Joe’s Cilantro Salad Dressing, Trader Joe’s Elote Chopped Salad Kits and Trader Joe’s Southwest Salads from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Enchiladas, Dressings and Salad Kits are subject to this recall:

  • Trader Joe’s Chicken Enchiladas Verde, sold with a SKU of 58292
  • Trader Joe’s Cilantro Salad Dressing, sold with a SKU of 36420
  • Trader Joe’s Elote Chopped Salad Kits, sold with a SKU of 74768
  • Trader Joe’s Southwest Salads, sold with a SKU of 56077

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Trader Joe’s branded Chicken Enchiladas Verde, Trader Joe’s Cilantro Salad Dressing, Trader Joe’s Elote Chopped Salad Kits and Trader Joe’s Southwest Salads may have been marketed, distributed and sold in all US states, although it is always possible these food products had distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Logo - US Food and Drug Administration ("FDA")According to the FDA, Trader Joe’s of Monrovia, California establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Trader Joe’s branded Chicken Enchiladas Verde, Trader Joe’s Cilantro Salad Dressing, Trader Joe’s Elote Chopped Salad Kits and Trader Joe’s Southwest Salads from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled prepared Enchiladas, Dressings and Salad Kits identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after Rizo-López Cheeses Foods, Inc. recalled certain batch/lots of Cotija Cheese due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Fresh Creative Foods used the recalled Cotija Cheese as a primary ingredient in all current batch/lots of the Trader Joe’s Enchiladas, Dressings and Salad Kits identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Trader Joe’s branded Chicken Enchiladas Verde, Trader Joe’s Cilantro Salad Dressing, Trader Joe’s Elote Chopped Salad Kits and Trader Joe’s Southwest Salads, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the prepared Enchiladas, Dressings and Salad Kits to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.
