US FlagUS/Washington: Macgregors Meat and Seafood Ltd, a Woodbridge, Ontario, establishment, recalls an estimated 2,745 pounds of 44th Street branded Slow Cooked Pork Baby Back Rib Meat products from the American marketplace that were reportedly produced without the benefit of federal inspection with consequential risks of undeclared allergens, bacterial and/or viral infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Slow Cooked Baby Back Rib Pork Meat products were thought to have been produced in Canada and are subject to this recall, as follows:

  • 44th Street Slow Cooked Baby Back Pork Ribs with Maplewood Smoked Sauce, sold in 1.5-pound cartons with Julian date codes ranging from 3453 and 0154 printed on the side of the immediate package, a case designation of “Cert 043436”, with a production date code of 3453 with use-by date code of 2024 DE 10 or a production date code of 0154 with use-by date code of 2025 JA 14.
  • 44th Street Slow Cooked Baby Back Pork Ribs with Honey Garlic Sauce, sold in 1.5-pound cartons with Julian date codes ranging from 1453 and 1593 printed on the side of the immediate package, a case designation of “Cert 043436”, with a production date code of 1453 with use-by date code of 2024 DE 10 or a production date code of 1593 with use-by date code of 2024 JN 07.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These 44th Street branded Slow Cooked Baby Back Rib Meat products from the American marketplace that were reportedly produced without the benefit of federal inspection products were known to have been marketed, sold and distributed in the US states of Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Logo - United States Department of Agriculture ("USDA")According to the USDA, Macgregors Meat and Seafood Ltd. has recalled an estimated 2,745 pounds of 44th Street branded Slow Cooked Baby Back Rib Meat products from the American marketplace that were reportedly produced without the benefit of federal inspection. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Pork products identified above.

In this case, the recalled Pork products bear the Canadian establishment number of “566” found printed inside the Canadian inspection mark located on the label.

This recall was initiated after routine the firm notified FSIS that the Baby Back Rib Meat was not presented for FSIS import re-inspection.

The USDA’s FSIS is concerned that some product may be in your freezers. People who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them and restaurants are urged not to serve these Pork products. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled 44th Street branded Slow Cooked Baby Back Rib Pork Meat products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
