Food Recall: Kroger, Sprouts Farmers Market and Trader Joe’s Fruit Trays

US FlagUS/Silver Spring: GHGA, LLC, a Conley, Georgia establishment, expands its existing recall for certain batch/lots of Kroger, Sprouts Farmers Market and Trader Joe’s branded Fruit Trays, Cups and other fresh-cut Fruit products containing recalled Cantaloupe from the American marketplace to include additional distribution information. No additional products have been added to this recall.

The original recall was due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

==> No best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Logo - KrogerThese Kroger, Sprouts Farmers Market and Trader Joe’s branded Fruit Trays, Cups and other fresh-cut Fruit products containing recalled Cantaloupe were known to be marketed, distributed and sold from Kroger stores in the US states of Alabama and Georgia; Sprouts stores in the US states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina, and Trader Joe’s retail stores in the US states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Logo - US Food and Drug Administration ("FDA")According to the FDA, GHGA has recalled certain batch/lots of Kroger, Sprouts Farmers Market and Trader Joe’s branded Fruit Trays, Cups and other fresh-cut Fruit products containing recalled Cantaloupe from the American marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Fresh Cut Fruit products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after fresh-cut Fruit products made from Whole Cantaloupe subject to a previously announced product recall initiated by Sofia Produce, LLC doing business as Trufresh, were used in the production of the above listed Fruit Trays, Cups and other fresh-cut Fruit products. The original recall was initiated due to potential Salmonella contamination.

Logo - Trader Joe'sPlease note: while these Fruit Trays, Cups and other fresh-cut Fruit products may be close to or past their use-by dates, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased these products during the time period ranging from October 15, 2020 and November 30, 2020, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Kroger, Sprouts Farmers Market and Trader Joe’s branded Fruit Trays, Cups and other fresh-cut Fruit products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Fruit to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial Salmonellosis.
