US FlagUS/Washington: Skyline Provisions, Inc., a Harvey, Illinois establishment, recalls an estimated 5,620 pounds of Skyline Provisions Ground Beef products from the American marketplace due to suspected unidentified fragment contamination and consequential risks of risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and sepsis, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Ground Beef products were thought to have been produced and packed on or about August 19, 2023 and are subject to this recall:

  • Skyline Provisions Inc. Ground Beef 81/19, sold in 20-pound carton boxes containing four (4) packages with an item designation of 000248
  • Skyline Provisions Inc. Ground Beef 75/25, sold in 20-pound carton boxes containing four (4) packages with an item designation of 000293

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and wholesale presentation. Additional images of the recalled Ground Beef products can be found on the Web site above.

These Ground Beef products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and Wisconsin, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Logo - United States Department of Agriculture ("USDA") According to the USDA, Skyline Provisions has recalled an estimated 5,620 pounds of Skyline Provisions Ground Beef products from the American marketplace due to suspected unidentified fragment contamination. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Ground Beef products identified above.

In general, if glass, plastic, rubber, wood or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Skyline Provisions Ground Beef products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and/or sepsis.
