Product Recall: Sitro Gasmate Portable Diesel Heaters

Australia/Canberra: Sitro Group Australia Pty Ltd., a Mount Waverley, Victoria establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Gasmate Portable Diesel Heaters from the Australian marketplace due to possible connection of the 12 volt DC Heater to the 240 volt AC mains supply with consequential risks of electric shock, burns, scalds, smoke inhalation, respiratory failure, cardiac system collapse and/or property damage, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Portable Diesel Heaters are subject to this recall:

• Gasmate Portable Diesel Heater, consisting of portable 12 volt DC powered diesel heaters designed for outdoor use and sold with a model designation of DH203 with a SKU/barcode number of 9314388082529

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Portable Diesel Heaters were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Australian states of New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia, although it is always possible these work products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the ACCC, Sitro Group Australia has recalled certain batch/lots of Gasmate Portable Diesel Heaters from the Australian marketplace due to possible connection of the 12 volt DC Heater to the 240 volt AC mains supply with consequential risks of electric shock, burns, scalds, smoke inhalation, respiratory failure, cardiac system collapse and/or property damage.

In this case, there is a risk of electric shock and other injuries that can cause serious injury or death if the Heater is mistakenly connected to 240 volt AC mains supply. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should not use the recalled Portable Diesel Heaters identified above.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Gasmate Portable Diesel Heaters, please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact Gasmate to arrange return and free repair of the Diesel Heater. Repair consists of replacing the Inlet and supplying a replacement 12 volt DC supply lead.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat electric shock, burns, scalds, smoke inhalation, respiratory failure and/or cardiac system collapse.
