US/Washington: Gree Electric Appliances, Inc., a Zhuhai, China establishment, recalls an estimated 1.56 million Kenmore, GE, SoleusAir, Norpole and Seabreeze branded Dehumidifiers from the American marketplace due to suspected overheating and consequential risks of fire, burns, scalds, smoke inhalation, respiratory failure, cardiac system collapse and/or property damage

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves forty-two (42) models of Kenmore, GE, SoleusAir, Norpole and Seabreeze branded Dehumidifiers manufactured between January 2011 and February 2014, marketed, sold and delivered in the United States, as follows:

==> No barcodes, UPCs, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the recalled Kenmore, GE, SoleusAir, Norpole and Seabreeze branded Dehumidifiers can overheat, smoke, and catch fire, posing fire and burn hazards to people who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use.

In this case, this recall was initiated after Gree received reports of at least twenty-three (23) fires, 688 incidents of overheating and an estimated $168,000 in property damage using the recalled Dehumidifiers.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Kenmore, GE, SoleusAir, Norpole and Seabreeze branded Dehumidifiers, please do not use them. Instead, contact Gree Customer Service on the Web at https://global.gree.com/usa/channels/840.html to sign up for the waitlist. You will be contacted in six (6) to eight (8) weeks with information on how to register for the recall.
