Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Raw Beef products are subject to this Public Health Alert:

  • ALDI USDA Choice Black Angus Beef for Carne Picada Raw Beef, sold in approximately 1.5-pound plastic tray packages with a “use-or-freeze-by” date of August 22, 2023, a Julian Date of 206, and time stamp ranging from 08:43 to 09:23. The product bears the establishment number Est. 85M.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Raw Beef products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold from ALDI grocery stores in all US states, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Logo - United States Department of Agriculture ("USDA") According to the USDA, the problem was discovered when the establishment notified FSIS that it received a complaint from a retail store that soft, clear plastic fragments were noticed in the ALDI Black Angus Raw Beef. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Beef products identified above.

In general, if glass, plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled ALDI USDA Choice Black Angus Beef for Carne Picada Raw Beef, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction and sepsis.
