US/Washington: As of Thursday, July 27, 2023, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”), a division of the US Department of Transportation, has posted a total of fifty-seven (57) vehicle, tire, accessory or other automotive-related product recalls this month. Among the fifty-seven (57) recalls the NHTSA announced in July comes news of the following:

Ford Motor Company (“Ford”), a Dearborn, Michigan establishment, has recalled an estimated 112,225 model year 2014-2016 Ford Transit Connect Vans marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Latches/Locks/Linkages – Front Door Latch Pawl may crack

NHTSA Safety Notification 23V502000 reports the Front Door Latch Pawl may crack and prevent the vehicle’s Door from latching

According to the NHTSA, an unlatched Door can open while driving, increasing the risk of injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Ford Dealers will inspect and replace the front door latches as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 28, 2023. Owners may contact Ford Customer Service toll-free 1-866-436-7332 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Ford’s designation for this recall is 23S36.
