Food Recall: 2372761 Ontario Inc. Dried Sweet Potatoes

Canada/Ottawa: 2372761 Ontario Inc., a Toronto, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Dried Sweet Potato products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Barley and Sulphites (Sulfites), both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious health and safety hazard requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Dried Sweet Potato products are subject to this recall:

• Unbranded Dried Sweet Potato Stripe, sold in 170 gram packages; affected batch/lots: all codes where Barley and Sulphites are not declared on the label with a UPC of 6 959899 321434
• Unbranded Dried Sweet Potato Slice, sold in 170 gram packages; affected batch/lots: all codes where Barley and Sulphites are not declared on the label with a UPC of 6 959899 321618

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Unbranded Dried Sweet Potato Stripe products and Unbranded Dried Sweet Potato Slice products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian province of Ontario, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, 2372761 Ontario Inc. has recalled certain batch/lots of Dried Sweet Potato products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Barley and Sulphites (Sulfites). As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Dried Sweet Potato products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Dried Sweet Potato products and could be allergic to their Barley and/or Sulphite (Sulfite) ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
