US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Estancia Holdings, a Cumming, Georgia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Tome Corse Sheep Ottavi Cheese from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Dairy products are subject to this recall:

  • Fromager Ottavi Tome De Brebis Sheep Milk Cheese, sold in two (2) by 3.5 kg wheel packages with a batch/lot of VC349 and a use-by date of 08/05/2023

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Fromager Ottavi Tome De Brebis Sheep Milk Cheese products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US state of Oregon, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Dairy products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated due to an outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes in Europe and resulting ongoing recall for the Cheese from SAS Fromagerie Ottavi. Estancia Holdings was notified by the French manufacturer and immediately recalled the cheese imported to the United States..

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Fromager Ottavi Tome De Brebis Sheep Milk Cheese products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Dairy products to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.
