Vehicle Recall: Nissan Leaf Sedan & Hatchback EVs

Canada/Ottawa: Transport Canada, an Ottawa, Ontario regulatory and safety authority, recalls an estimated 11,985 model year 2015 to 2019 Nissan Leaf Sedan and Hatchback EVs marketed, sold and delivered in Canada.

On the affected Nissan EVs, the Rearview Camera Wiring Harness could be damaged by movement and vibrations. If this happens, the Rearview Camera image may not display correctly or may not display at all. Canadian regulations require the Rearview image to display when reversing.

As a result of this reported defect, Rearview Camera image that doesn’t display could reduce a driver’s ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. If this defect occurs, it could increase the risk of crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> No VINs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Proposed Remedy:
Nissan will notify owners by mail concerning this recall. The corrective actions for this reported defect are under development.
