US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Roland Foods, LLC (“Roland Foods”), a New York, New York establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Roland Tahini – 100% Ground Sesame Seed Paste from the American marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Tahini products are subject to this recall:

  • Roland Tahini – 100% Ground Sesame Seed Paste, sold in 16-ounce canisters with a batch/lot designation of P024581, a production code of X0419, a best-by date of October 19, 2024 and a UPC of 10041224701509

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Roland Tahini – 100% Ground Sesame Seed Paste may have been marketed, distributed and sold in all US states, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Spread products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after routine sampling program by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development reported that the Sesame Seed Paste Spreads tested positive for Salmonella.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Roland Tahini – 100% Ground Sesame Seed Paste, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Sesame Seed Paste product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Salmonellosis.
