Among the twenty-nine (29) recalls the NHTSA has announced in February comes news of the following:

Logo - Hyundai Motor America ("Hyundai")Hyundai Motor America (“Hyundai”), a Fountain Valley, California establishment and a subsidiary of Hyundai Motors of Seoul, South Korea, has recalled an estimated 1,165 model year 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 5 SUV IONIQ 6 Sedans, and Genesis GV60 Sedans marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Power Train – Loss of drive power from faulty Driveshaft

NHTSA Safety Notification 24V065000 reports the Rear Inner Driveshaft may have been improperly heat-treated, allowing it to break under load and resulting in a loss of drive power.

According to the NHTSA, a loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Hyundai Dealers will replace the Rear Inner Driveshaft, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 25, 2024.

Owners may contact Hyundai Customer Service toll-free at 1-855-371-9460 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Pacific Standard Time (“PST”) for more information. Hyundai’s designation for this recall are 253(H) for Hyundai vehicles and 017G(G) for Genesis vehicles.
