Vehicle Recall: Audi Sedan & SUV EVs

Canada/Ottawa: Transport Canada, an Ottawa, Ontario regulatory and safety authority, recalls an estimated 12,469 model year 2021 and 2022 Audi A7 Sedans; 2020 to 2021 Audi A8 Sedans; 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 Audi E-Tron Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”); 2022, 2023 and 2024 Audi E- Tron GT SUVs; 2022, 2023 and 2024 Audi Q4 E-Tron SUVs; 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 Audi Q5 SUVs; and 2022, 2023 and 2024 Audi RS E-Tron GT Sedans marketed, sold and delivered in Canada.

Under certain conditions, the Plug for the 220 volt Compact Vehicle Charging Cable for the recalled Audi Sedans and SUVs could become damaged by the House AC Power Outlet. As a result, the Cable could overheat while charging.

Please note: this recall only affects Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Electric (“PHEV”) models.

If this defect occurs, Wiring that overheats could increase the risk of fire, burns, smoke inhalation, respiratory failure, cardiac system collapse and/or property damage, with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat burns, scalds, explosive blast injury, smoke inhalation and/or respiratory and/or cardiac injury.

==> No VINs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Proposed Remedy:
Audi Canada will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to an Authorized Dealership to to replace the vehicle’s Charging Cable. For unsold vehicles, the Dealer will remove the Charging Cable prior to sale.
