US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Truong Giang Distributor Corp., a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Golden Owl branded Dried Mango products from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Sulfites, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Dried Fruit products are subject to this recall:

  • Golden Owl branded Dried Mango, sold in 7-ounce (~200 gram) clear plastic containers with UPC 816710-024461

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Golden Owl branded Dried Mango products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in all US states, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Logo - US Food and Drug Administration ("FDA")According to the FDA, Truong Giang Distributor Corp. has recalled certain batch/lots of Golden Owl branded Dried Mango products from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Sulfites. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Dried Fruit products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets found Sulfites in the Dried Mango product that was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of Sulfites.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Golden Owl branded Dried Mango and could be allergic to their Sulfite ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
