Vehicle Recall: Ford Fusion Energi PHEVs

Canada/Ottawa: Transport Canada, an Ottawa, Ontario regulatory and safety authority, recalls an estimated 3,198 model year 2019 and 2020 Ford Fusion Energi Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (“PHEVs”) marketed, sold and delivered in Canada.

On certain Ford Fusion Energi Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles, the high-voltage battery energy control module could become damaged. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels or the control module could overheat.

If this defect occurs, a sudden loss of power to the Wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A Battery Energy Control Module that overheats can create the risk of a fire.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

==> No VINs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Proposed Remedy:
Ford will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development. Ford advises owners not to charge your vehicle until the recall repairs are completed.
