Among the sixty-one (61) recalls the NHTSA announced in January comes news of the following:

Logo - Tesla, Inc.Tesla, Inc., a Palo Alto, California establishment, has recalled an estimated 199,575 model year 2023 Model S, X and Y Electric Vehicles (“EVs”) equipped with full Self-Driving Computer 4.0 and running a Software release version ranging from 2023.44.30 through 2023.44.30.6 or 2023.44.100 marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Back Over Prevention – Rearview Image may not display

NHTSA Safety Notification 24V035000 reports Software instability may prevent the Rearview Camera image from displaying.

According to the NHTSA, a rearview image that does not display while in REVERSE gear decreases the driver’s visibility and increases the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Proposed Remedy:
Tesla has released an Over-The-Air (“OTA”) Software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 22, 2024.

Owners may contact Tesla Customer Service toll-free at 1-877-798-3752 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Pacific Standard Time (“PST”) for more information. Tesla’s designation for this recall is SB-24-00-002.

Owners of the recalled vehicles may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety (“NHTSA”) Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or visit the NHTSA’s Web site at http://www.nhtsa.gov.
