Vehicle Recall: Land Rover Range Rover SUVs

US/Washington: As of Thursday, January 25, 2024, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”), a division of the US Department of Transportation, has posted a total of fifty-six (56) vehicle, tire, accessory or other automotive-related product recalls this month. Among the fifty-six (56) recalls the NHTSA announced in January comes news of the following:

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (“Land Rover”), a Mahwah, New Jersey establishment and a subsidiary of Tata Motors of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, has recalled an estimated 58,729 model year 2018-2022 Land Rover Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUVs equipped with a Surround Camera System and marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Back Over Prevention – Rearview Camera Image may not display in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 111

NHTSA Safety Notification 24V023000 reports water may enter into the Rearview Camera. If this defect occurs, it can cause the Rearview Camera image not to appear on the display or display a distorted image. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, “Rear Visibility”.

According to the NHTSA, a Rearview Camera image that does not display while in REVERSE gear decreases the driver’s visibility, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Jaguar Land Rover North America Dealers will inspect the Rearview Camera and add a new Seal or replace the Camera, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 8, 2024.

Owners may contact Land Rover Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-637-6837 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Land Rover’s designation for this recall is N778.
