US/Silver Spring: Rong Shing Trading NY Inc., a Brooklyn, New York establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Lian Sheng Dried Tangerine Plums from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Sulfites, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Dried Fruit products are subject to this recall:

• Rong Shing Trading Lian Sheng Dried Tangerine Plums, sold in 4.7-ounce (~135 gram) clear plastic jars with an expiration date of 05/31/2023 and a UPC of 6928580580214

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Rong Shing Trading Lian Sheng Dried Tangerine Plums were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in all US states, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the FDA, Rong Shing Trading NY Inc. has recalled certain batch/lots of Lian Sheng Dried Tangerine Plums from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Sulfites. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Dried Fruit products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after routine sampling by Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and subsequent analysis by its Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of Sulfites in the 4.7-ounce (~135 gram) jars of Dried Tangerine Plum products that were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of Sulfites per serving could occur in certain Sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of Sulfites. Analysis of the Dried Tangerine Plum revealed the product contained 21.91 milligrams per serving.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Lian Sheng Dried Tangerine Plums products and could be allergic to their Sulfite ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
