Among the forty-eight (48) recalls the NHTSA announced in January comes news of the following:

Kia Motors America (“Kia”), an Irvine, California establishment and a subsidiary of Kia Motors Corporation of Seoul, South Korea, has recalled an estimated 101,049 model year 2023-2024 Kia Sportage Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) and 2022-2024 Kia Carnival Minivans marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Structure – Roof Molding may detach

NHTSA Safety Notification 24V025000 reports the Roof Molding may loosen and detach..

According to the NHTSA, a detached Roof Molding can create a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Kia Dealers will inspect the roof molding and replace or secure it as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 15, 2024
