US/Silver Spring: Whitley’s Peanut Factory, a Hayes, Virginia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Deluxe Nut Mix products from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and/or mispackaging with consequential undeclared Milk, Peanuts, Sesame, Soy and Wheat, all known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Deluxe Nut Mix products are subject to this recall:

• Whitley’s Peanut Factory Deluxe Nut Mix, sold in 12-ounce cans between August 21, 2023 through January 10, 2024 with a batch/lot of MFG 22823, MFG 25023, MFG 25823, MFG 29323 or MFG 35623 and a UPC of 703795000551

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Deluxe Nut Mix products may have been marketed, distributed and sold in all US states, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the FDA, Whitley’s Peanut Factory has recalled certain batch/lots of Deluxe Nut Mix products from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and/or mispackaging with consequential undeclared Milk, Peanuts, Sesame, Soy and Wheat. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Deluxe Nut Mix products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after the company’s Quality Assurance Department became aware of certain 10.5-ounce Whit’s Party Mix tins were reportedly labeled with 12-ounce Deluxe Nut Mix labels. The depth of the recall has been expanded to include an earlier production date.

While both Nut Mix products contain Almonds, Whit’s Party Mix also includes Milk, Peanuts, Sesame, Soy and Wheat, ingredients that are not listed in the “Contains” statement of the Deluxe Nut Mix label. This distinction is important because people who are allergic or intolerant to a specific ingredient may rely solely on the more serious “Contains” warning statement, rather than scanning the longer Ingredient Label for nutritional information.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Whitley’s Peanut Factory Deluxe Nut Mix and could be allergic to their Milk, Peanuts, Sesame, Soy and/or Wheat, ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
