Canada FlagCanada/Ottawa: Pattison Food Group, a Lethbridge, Alberta establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Urban Fare branded Fruit Parfait Desserts and Yogurt Parfait Desserts from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Fruit Parfait and Yogurt Parfait Dessert products are subject to this recall (in alphabetical order):

  • Urban Fare branded UF Chia Tropical Fruit Parfait Desserts, sold in ~385 gram containers; affected batch/lots:: all best-before date codes up to and including 2024/JA/19 with a UPC of 0 288779 908998
  • Urban Fare branded Yogurt Parfait Desserts, sold in 330 gram containers; affected batch/lots:: all best-before date codes up to and including 2024/JA/18 with a UPC of 0 280385 706999

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These processed Fruit Parfait and Yogurt Parfait Dessert products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

In this case, this Canadian recall was initiated as a direct result of an earlier recall initiated in the United States by the Quaker Oats Company. The recalled dessert products contain granola and/or other cereal products recalled by Quaker Oats Canada.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Fruit Parfait and/or Yogurt Parfait Dessert products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Salmonellosis.
