Product Recall: Hover-1 Helix Hoverboards

US/Bethesda: DGL Group Ltd., an Edison, New Jersey establishment, recalls an estimated 25,000 Hover-1 Helix Hoverboards from the American marketplace due to suspected overheating with consequential risks of fire, burns, scalds, smoke inhalation, respiratory failure, cardiac system collapse and/or property damage, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain Hover-1 Helix Hoverboards marketed, sold and delivered in the United States, as follows:

• Hover-1 Helix Hoverboards, sold with serial numbers containing 15914, 19203, or 19988 as the fifth code in the six-code serial number affixed to the bottom of the Board. The recalled Hoverboards were sold in “camouflage” and “galaxy” color/styles with the brand, “Hover-1” printed on the front of each Hoverboard. The model “Hover-1 Helix” as well as the serial number can be found printed on separate labels on the bottom of the Hoverboard.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the recalled Hoverboard’s Lithium-ion Battery can overheat. If this defect occurs, it poses risks of fire, burns, scalds, smoke inhalation, respiratory failure and/or cardiac system collapse to people who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use.

In this case, this recall was initiated after DGL received three (3) reports of fire, incidents that were associated with five (5) reports of people experiencing headaches, nausea or coughs from smoke inhalation and approximately $25,000 in reported property damage.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Hover-1 Helix Hoverboards, please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact Hover-1 for instructions as to how to receive a free replacement Hoverboard.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat burns, smoke inhalation and/or respiratory collapse.
